Week Four: Fantasy Football Awards

Benjamin Hudy

Another week in the books, and yet I still cannot seem to find myself a win in fantasy football. A lot of my friends are saying Ben Hudy is washed at fantasy. This is probably true, but hey, I do not see them giving out awards every week and diving deep into the stats of every single player in the NFL.

It was a pretty high-scoring week across the board as a lot of teams forgot how to tackle and play defense. As much as the quarterbacks usually shine in fantasy football, this week was all about the wide receivers, running backs and tight ends.

Most of these players on this list I got screwed over by. They did not make this week fun for me.

Here are your fantasy football award winners for week four:

King in the Castle - You just got Hocked. Literally, I was getting Hocked all afternoon. In a league full of incredible quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers, the tight ends never get any love. Well T.J. Hockenson was spreading all the love to his fantasy owners this weekend.

Hockenson set the single-game record for receiving yards by a Lions tight end with 179 yards. He broke free for an 81-yard reception and caught two touchdowns in the process. He made me want to cry all weekend, especially considering I had a trade set up for him over a week ago that fell through. He had the most points in fantasy this weekend which lands him the King in the Castle. The first non-quarterback to win this award.

James Winston of the Week - Kenny Pickett is sighing in relief at the moment. Kenny Pickett has played one half of football and is already trying to become a Jameis winner. Even though Pickett had the most interceptions this weekend at three, someone was able to put up the perfect touchdown to interception ratio over two.

Our long-neck king, Davis Mills, had himself a weekend throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions. I really do want Davis to succeed though. It has been a tough go so far to start the season but I want this man to be an NFL starter for as long as possible.

He will be one of the all-time great backup quarterbacks one day as he will gobble up ten million while riding the bench for whatever quarterback prodigy comes through the league next. Mills Mafia forever.

Kirk Cousins of the Week - The Rams cannot beat the 49ers in the regular season. Matthew Stafford had a pretty brutal game on primetime. An interception, a fumble and force-fed the ball to Cooper Kupp all night.

The Niners defense was not letting him have it. I have seen worse primetime performances out of Kirk but it was pretty hard watching that Rams offense at times. The Rams are fine it is just that Niners curse. Stafford was prime to have a bad game tonight.

Missing: If Found Please Call - The Jaguars have been getting their fair share of awards to start the season. Going into week four the Jags had plenty of guys at the top of fantasy rankings. After three weeks of incredible football, they finally came back down to Earth.

I was expecting the Jaguars to try and run all over the Eagles during that rainstorm in Philadelphia. The Jaguars backfield of Jame Robinson and Travis Etienne only ended up getting 16 combined carriers for the entire game. Tough week, but especially they should bounce back, especially Robinson.

Honorary Chris Collinsworth: “Now Here’s A Guy” - If you are a Kenneth Walker owner like myself, turn away. Rashaad Penny turned heads on Sunday. It still is wild to me that the Seahawks would take Walker in the second round of this years draft when he only has 15 total carries this entire season.

Rashaad Penny was one of the many Seahawks and Lions players that had an incredible performance this week. Penny might have solidified his job going forward after rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns. We will see if it was just one incredible performance or a sign of more to come, but Penny just continues to keep Kenneth Walker on the bench. My fantasy team stinks.

Philly Guy - Once again, another incredible Philly Guy performance. In a rainstorm against the Jaguars, the Eagles decided to take advantage of it and run all over the Jacksonville defense. Miles Sanders had a week. Sanders ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders is starting to shut up the haters and become the running back people saw him as when he was drafted.

“They Wrote Me Off, I Didn’t Write Back Though” - Everyone wrote Geno Smith off as a viable quarterback option in fantasy going into this season. We are living in the Geno Smith renaissance. Geno is currently sitting at the number nine best quarterback in fantasy football. He is having a way better season than Russell Wilson, and just continues to have good week after good week.

Geno threw for 320 yards with two touchdowns, as well as a rushing touchdown. He landed at quarterback two this week in a league that is dominated by elite quarterbacks. No one would have ever considered Geno Smith as a top ten fantasy quarterback going into this season. We all wrote Geno Smith off, and he just didn't write back.

I Made My Fantasy Owners Sh*t Themselves - When we all saw that notification that DK Metcalf was getting carted to the locker room, every fantasy owner, including myself, crapped themselves. Turns out DK just needed to take a crap himself.

Besides that DK has a pretty solid week catching passes from Geno Smith. DK caught seven passes for 149 yards and finally broke out. This was the week that all DK Metcalf owners wanted to see. Hopefully, he can keep this consistency going forward because he was another player people wrote off going into this season.

Hopefully, by the time I write this next week, I will have a win in fantasy, but probably not. My fantasy team will eventually see brighter. For now, I will continue to give out awards to players that continue to screw me over.
